Beautiful outside wedding venue view

Right on the Main Line, you don’t have to travel far from the city to get to this magical venue. During the day, if there are events in progress, the public may enjoy strolling through the gardens. This is a great way to truly experience the venue’s landscape and offerings. Within Appleford, there are four different types of gardens along with the covered terrace. Not only are these grounds beautiful, but they are also historic. The land, originally granted by William Penn, has original architecture from 300 years ago. The Appleford Committee now takes care of the grounds and preserves Appleford ‘s history.

We talked to the Executive Director of Appleford, Laurie McGrath, to get some more insight on Appleford.
She shared with us that one of the things that makes Appleford a perfect venue is the perfect garden setting. “Appleford is a handsome, understated example of early Pennsylvania architecture. It is both an arboretum and bird sanctuary with water features and gardens designed by Thomas Sears. The grounds offer numerous backdrops for photographs.”

When asked about recent trends she has experienced, she told us that lately many couples are booking their wedding close to the engagement date. Long engagements seem to be a thing of the past.
In closing, Laurie suggests that when you are looking for the perfect venue, concentrate on one item that matters to you the most. Whether that be the beautiful venue, good food, drinks, or entertainment.

In 2011, Cescaphe introduced a new venue to the Philadelphia area: Vie. The venue was inspired by the elegance of French Provencal design to capture the romantic appearance of modern décor. Vie resides north of City Hall, right by the famous Love Park. Nestled in such a historic area, out of town guests enjoy the scenery and nearby landmarks. In the areas, guests can visit places such as Rittenhouse Square, Center City Philadelphia, Logan Square and Fairmount Park, all within a short distance of Vie.

Vie certainly reflects Cescaphe’s strive for excellence in their wedding venue. Cescaphe designed Vie to impress guests at every point. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a towering champagne display, interactive food stations, and a customized ice sculpture atop a boundless stretch of seafood and hors d’oeuves. As guest flow through the ravishing cocktail space, they begin to admire the stunning details of the venue. The imported Italian mosaic, a floor-to-ceiling, custom-built panoramic bar and the breathtaking porcelain and crystal chandeliers show off the elegance of Vie.

Cescaphe has hosted so many unique weddings over the years at their variety of venues. We spoke to Cescaphe co-founder, Joe Volpe, for insight on popular wedding trends that they’ve seen arise. One that sticks out the most is many couples’ desire for both an indoor and outdoor space. Vie has a private outdoor courtyard with exposed brick walls, hanging chandeliers, and lush greenery. The open air space provides a setting for beautiful, intimate wedding ceremonies. The built-in stage will give every guest the perfect view of the newlywed couple. For couples that choose an indoor ceremony space, the outdoor area can still be highlighted with cigar roller bar, fire pit, game space, and more.

With Cescaphe’s catering expertise and venue management, your wedding will go exactly as planned. Their culinary expertise will “Wow” you and your guests, making it an experience from cocktail hour to dinner. Vie is the perfect venue for couples looking to host a grand affair while keeping their love at the center of it all. From beginning to end, Cescaphe will make your wedding something you will remember forever.

With everything the Springfield Country Club offers, there’s no need to leave. Their staff will make sure everything works out perfectly for your big day.

We spoke to Janet Rickards, the Sales Manager for Springfield Country Club, on how couples should plan on finding a venue.

There is more to the wedding venue space than just guest capacity. Janet advises, “When choosing your venue, select a reception space that is able to comfortably accommodate not just your guests, but also your entertainment, food and beverage.” Not every wedding is the same, and while most venues will try to accommodate, make sure you keep this is mind. Janet also advises, “If you are having a band, want a large dance floor with plenty of room for your guests to dance and mingle, have food or beverage stations, or photo op or lounge areas – take that all into mind when selecting the right venue and utilize floor plans so that your event is able to be executed in the way that you have envisioned.” No one wants to feel cramped at a wedding.

For those looking at booking the country club, there are three different event spaces to consider. The Grand Ballroom, the Golf View Ballroom and the Fairway Ballroom, each with its own unique features and crystal chandeliers. They also offer outdoor ceremony event space options. They include a ceremony garden surrounded by lush greenery and a charming gazebo complimented by a stone walkway and foliage. Both spots are perfect for romantic ceremonies under the sun.

In addition to her knowledge about choosing a venue, Janet also informed us of some recent wedding trends she has seen. “In addition to the wedding cake, many couples are enhancing their dessert course with added sweet treats for guests to enjoy. From gourmet donut walls to dessert martini bars, ice cream sundae stations and fresh baked pastries, the crowd-pleasing possibilities are endless! We love working together with our clients and culinary team on customizing the perfect assortment to make things extra sweet and sentimental.”

Congratulations to the Springfield Country Club for winning a PhillyWeddings’ Editor’s Choice Award!

kimmel center

The latest Philly Weddings Editor’s Choice Award goes to the Kimmel Center! The Kimmel Center is regularly used as a performing arts center, but doubles as a beautiful wedding venue. Right in the heart of Philadelphia, couples can enjoy views of City Hall, which make for great photo opportunities. Inside, the Kimmel Center’s soaring glass atrium will make your wedding picture perfect.

kimmel center

Along with the beautiful venue, Garces Group exclusively caters at the center. We spoke to Gina Rio, the Wedding Sales and Marketing Manager for Garces Group for more insight on the Kimmel Center. Gina tells, “Kimmel Center is an architectural masterpiece centered in Philadelphia’s Avenue of the Arts. Couples say ‘I do’ under Hamilton Garden’s soaring glass atrium which features floor-to-ceiling windows and stunning views of the iconic vaulted glass arch.” Guests enjoy classic cocktails and delicious bites by Garces Events in The Lounge and outdoor Balcony overlooking City Hall.

The Kimmel Center stands apart from other wedding venues because of its unique features, like the atrium. However, the Kimmel Center is perfect for weddings because of its neutral colors as well. Gina advises that “Neutral décor and a color scheme that is pleasing to the eye will allow couples to bring their personal aesthetic to the wedding. No one wants to compete with bold carpets or busy wallpaper!” The Kimmel Center is unique yet customizable for any type of couple.

Since the venue is so customizable, Gina has seen many different wedding styles. Recently, she has seen couples use mixed media and different textures used in decor. Softer features such as feathery grass and lightweight linens can be used to accentuate the modern aesthetic of Hamilton Garden.

Philadelphia is known for its American history. While there are many parts of Philadelphia that exemplify its history, there is one in particular we love: The Bellevue Hotel in The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. In the heart of Philadelphia, patrons of the Bellevue Hotel find themselves in the original “luxury hotel.” George C. Boldt, “The Father of the Modern American Hotel” pioneered the idea of a luxury hotel; delicious cuisine, impeccable service and a social setting where all locals and visitors could gather. He envisioned the Grand Ballroom as “the most magnificent in the world, no matter what the cost.”

The Bellevue has certainly lived up to those expectations over the years. As a historic hotel, it is also thought that the Bellevue was the first fully-electrified building in the country. Thomas Edison designed the original lighting for the entire building.

Directly in Center City, the Bellevue draws in guests with beautiful views inside and out. Within the hotel there are three main wedding venues: XIX Pearl Room, the Rose Garden Ballroom, and the Grand Ballroom. These rooms have beautiful architectural design and modern furnishing. Each room provides wonderful backdrops for wedding photos. Lisa McGraw, The Bellevue Hotel’s Senior Event Sales Manager, tells us that their clients love the balconies off the XIX Pearl Room and the staircase in the Grand Ballroom for photos.

With such an exquisite venue, The Bellevue Hotel’s staff also works extremely hard to make sure they can assist brides and grooms. Couples are invited in for a personalized tasting and help from the staff on picking their catering options. Seasoned sales, marketing, and event staff members assist clients every step of the way to ensure couples have the perfect day.

bellevue hotel

Lisa also gave us some tips on how couples should go about finding a venue.

She informs that couples should make a list of priorities. If a specific venue is your priority, it is easier to book when your wedding date it also flexible. Let the first two or three priorities guide your decision making. Recently, Lisa has also seen some interesting wedding trends she wanted to share. ” Traditional but timeless details are making their way back into the spotlight. Couples are loving Manhattans, Clover Clubs and Kir Royales as their signature cocktails. Many are also celebrating with heavier cocktail receptions and lighter dinners.” These trends mesh perfectly with a setting like the Bellevue, that always strives to combine timeless luxury and modern style.

The Bellevue Hotel is the perfect wedding venue for couples looking for elegance, history, and luxury. Any couple will find themselves celebrating in style when they book the Bellevue for their wedding. Congratulations to the Bellevue Hotel for winning Philly Wedding’s Editor’s Choice Award!
